Scootours is one of the newest exhilarating activities in Magaliesburg: a downhill scooter tour. The route follows an adventurous off-road track in the scenic Cradle of Humankind.
Take a spin on the Monster Mountain Scooters, securely designed to descend the adventurous trails for young and old, with no fitness requirements. So long as you can balance on a bike, it’s all systems go.
The maximum group size is 9 solo riders, while kids aged between 4 and 9 ride as passengers with an adult as a scooter rider.
Private group bookings can also be arranged.
How it works: Book your space and meet at the main camp for a scenic safari-style drive to the hilltops of a private 700ha farm, taking in majestic views of the Cradle of Humankind.
From there, start your scooter ride specifically designed to make gravity work for you. Scootours is not an extreme activity but a unique, family-friendly way to experience nature, catering for children from 4 years old right up to adventurous grandparents.
The tour consists of two separate tracks that offer different ride experiences and scenery. The halfway stop is at the farm’s extraordinary dam in an old shale quarry.
Opening days: Harties Scootours is open on weekends and public holidays. All tours are weather-dependent, and booking is essential. Please arrive early to allow time for registration and fitting of safety helmets and gloves.
Trip times: 8:30am | 10:30am | 1pm & 3pm
Cost: Bookings require a 50% deposit (refundable if cancelled due to weather). Group discounts are available.
R475 per rider
R200 per junior passenger (ages 4-9), riding as passengers with an adult
R200 per non-rider, coming along for a 4×4 drive and watching the riders scoot by.
